Hever Church of England Aided Primary School is a small village school with its own grounds in a pleasant rural situation.
Immediate neighbours are St Peter’s Church and Hever Castle and the school maintains links with both.
There has been a school in Hever since Victorian times, the present building being constructed between 1909 and 1911 by William Waldorf Astor.
The school is surrounded by a playground, nature garden and small games field. The adjacent village football field is frequently used for larger school events. Edenbridge Leisure Centre, about two miles away, is visited regularly for swimming.
Committed teaching staff work closely with parents to build up the children’s confidence and facilitate their academic, social and emotional development.
As part of the Christian ethos of the school children are encouraged to care about and be considerate to those around them and a responsible attitude is fostered.

Four Elms School
Set in a picturesque location, Four Elms Primary School offers an excellent start in life for children aged four to eleven. Our shared vision focusses on providing personalised learning for each child, building confidence in a stimulating environment and enabling children to be prepared and skilled for life in the ever changing 21st century. We encourage children to become independent and enthusiastic life-long learners who take responsibility for themselves and their world.
We teach this through an “Enquiries” approach that stimulates thinking and learning about the wider world while also developing a “can-do” approach to problem solving. We believe that dialogue is essential both for learning and as the basis for our children to become skilled thinkers, readers and writers. This approach is evident through all areas of the curriculum.
We are an inclusive school that cares passionately about kindness, good manners and tolerance. We teach children that making mistakes is an opportunity to learn and build qualities such as perseverance and resilience.
Our school has been extended and refurbished recently and provides a spacious and light place in which to learn and teach, including an extensive library and new IT room. There is a separate play area for younger children and a large grass playing field on which many sports activities are pursued. These include football, hockey and rugby, while netball is played on a dedicated court. The school also has use of a hall in which other extra-curricula clubs and activities take place at lunchtime and after-school. These include gymnastics, dance and drama.
At our last Ofsted inspection the school was rated “Good”. “Pupil’s achievement is good and attainment is above average by Year six”.
