Cost of living – Support

With the recent increases in the cost of energy, food and other bills, many people may experience financial difficulties for different reasons and might not realise they’re entitled to help. The significant rise in the cost of living is a concern for everyone, and Sevenoaks District Council do offer some help and support.

There is a wide range of support available for individuals and families who are facing rising energy costs and are worried about their finances. Details of the support being offered can be found at https://www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/homepage/97/help_with_the_cost_of_living .

Vulnerable households can access financial support to help with essential household costs over the coming months as part of the Household Support Fund. The funding from Kent County Council is available up to 30 September. Pensioners living in the District, who are in receipt of Council Tax Reduction and/or Housing Benefit, will be allocated £100 per household to help with energy bills, whilst any low income or vulnerable household can apply for support to help with essential household costs including food, energy and water. Family Fun Days 2022

Our Free Family Fun Days include everything from crafts and games to sports and face painting in a friendly, safe environment.

There’s no need to book, simply turn up and have fun. Please visit www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/summerfun or our social media accounts before setting off as the programme may change at short notice, especially if there’s wet weather.

Enjoy the day together with your children – bring a picnic and stay for the whole day. Some locations will be providing refreshments. Remember, please bring suitable clothing for the activities and the weather, as well as sun cream and plenty of water.

Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Activities are aimed at children under the age of 12 and may not be suitable for very young children.

Many days include creative dance and yoga sessions delivered by ‘Cascade’. The 30-minute sessions are for adults with children aged two to five years old. There is a maximum of 20 people per session.

The days are funded by us and Reconnect, run by Play Place and supported by town and parish councils who are providing the venues.

Check out the attached for more information. A Family Fun Day will be held in Four Elms on Monday 8th August from 10am to 2pm. The PTA will be on hand selling refreshments too.
