Ladies only – empower yourself with a night of self defence

Ladies specific workshop

Due to the recent awful events, women’s worries about personal safety and travelling alone have been a main concern for many. Working With Cobra Self Defence we are offering 2 workshops for all Women and Girls 13+
Friday 22 October 1pm—3pm at Bat and Ball Station Function Room, Sevenoaks, TN14 5AP
40 free bookings available
Saturday 23 October 11am-1pm via Zoom—no limit
This is a FREE workshop giving you advice and training covering the following and more;
* Safety Strategies and tactics on travelling alone
* How to deal with unwanted encounters/situations
* What to do if you feel you are being followed
* Physical techniques to escape grabs and holds, that are easy to learn and remember
* Places of safety
We will also cover a short anti vehicle abduction section, we go through strategies to stop some-one getting you into a vehicle, also ways to stop a vehicle to get out.

Saturday Bulk Refuse Freighter for locals – 21st August 2021

09.15 – 10.00 FOUR ELMS village hall

10.15 – 11.00 HEVER bottle bank area next to Henry pub in coach car park

11.15 – 12.00 MARKBEECH village hall

The Freighter cannot accept white goods, washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, freezers, cookers, cast iron boilers or baths, long metal poles, building materials, manure, large parts of engines or vehicles or hazardous waste or compostable garden waste.

Hazardous waste now includes items like fluorescent tubes, Televisions’ & computer monitors, batteries, oil tins and filters, paint and paint tins and chemical containers. These items cannot be accepted on the Saturday Freighter service and must be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Please do not leave any rubbish unattended. Please DO NOT arrive early or leave items on site, otherwise will be classed as flytipping and information passed to the police, thank you.

This is a service free to residents, funded by Hever Parish Council and provided by Sevenoaks District Council.

Enjoy the day together with your children– bring a picnic and stay for the whole event.
 
Remember, please bring suitable clothing for the activity and the weather, as well as sun cream and plenty of water.
Family Fun Days are organised and financed by Sevenoaks District Council.

Theft at St. Paul’s Church, Four Elms

During the past week, we are not sure when as it is open on a daily basis from morning to early afternoon, our beautiful Church was robbed.

The brass ornate pulpit rails were removed from the stone stairs, a hanging candelabra in the sanctuary, fortunately one was left, and two silver plate flower vases were stolen.   Likewise, probably the water from the vases was strewn over the altar kneeling cushions leaving them badly marked.  If you know anything about this incident would be please contact:

You may query why the Church is left open each day. It is the policy of the PCC and Rochester Diocese that our Church is an open door to anyone and everyone.   It was founded over 100 years ago as “The Little House of Goodwill” and it remains so to this day.   Its interior decorations are considered, by academic Art Historians, to be a great example of the Arts and Crafts movement, founded by William Morris. All were gifts by generous residents of Four Elms Village and we are saddened that such a robbery has occurred, the first to our knowledge, at this time.

We continue to welcome all who wish to enter our beautiful Church and while “things” may have been stolen the heart of the Church is in good repair.

We cannot take Electrical Appliances/ Metal / Hard Core / Large Amounts of Garden Waste / Large Panes of Glass / Oil or Paint.

Congratulations to the winners at Four Elms school for their great entries into the “design a playground” competition. Over 50 wonderful designs, thank you all!
